SAFETY MOMENT
The safety of all our members is paramount to our organization. Below are a few reminders and safety tips when participating in our events:
Be aware of your surroundings at all times and what is going on nearby. Keep your chin up and eyes pointed in the direction you want to go and immediate areas. If you have headphones on, ensure that the volume isn't too loud that you are not able to listen to your surrounding environment.
Run/walk in groups as this increases your safety and allows you to be a safe person for fellow runners/walkers. If you see someone being followed or in distress, check in with them and help them get to a safe place.
Respect one's personal space and be careful to avoid running/walking directly in the direction of people you don't know as this may create a negative reaction on their part.
Trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right, avoid the area or person(s) and go in another direction.
Run/walk during daylight hours. If you do run/walk at night, avoid areas that are not well lit or unfamiliar to you and be sure to wear bright and reflective clothing.
Bring your phone in case you need to get in contact with someone or make an emergency call, and carry identification.
